9th of May: Donations to Hope

After an enquiry regarding “Best Before Dates” we have received the following:

Our food banks will only be able to accept food that is in date and has more than 3 months before its ā€˜best before’ date.Ā This is based on guidance from Trading Standards and is often stipulated by insurance companies too. Furthermore, we want to show people who have been referred to the food bank that they are important and valued by giving them the best food that we can.Ā

If items are less than 3 months past the ā€˜best before’ date food banks will often place these items in a separate container for people referred to the food bank to take on a ā€˜help yourself’ basis, making them aware of the risks involved in taking food that is past its ā€˜best before’ date.

We thought it best to advise you all of this important information.

20th of May: Subgroups Update

We now have an informal Cinema Group which will go to the local Arc cinema in Beeston on an adhoc basis.  Several members have expressed an interest to see Downton Abbey and this has been arranged for next Thursday, 26th May, to see the 6:10pm showing.  If you are interested in coming along join them upstairs at 6pm – as the film was released a few weeks ago it is expected to be easy to sit together.

If you have a film you would like to see then please let us know via email or Facebook and we will share the details.

This Saturday the Craft Group will be meeting at the Methodist Church Hall at 2pm.  Just bring along your craft – although there is always more chatting than work done!!

The Cafe Society will be meeting next Wednesday, 25th May, at Christine’s (Beeston) at 2pm.

Again, if you are interested in any event please send an email or comment on Facebook.

28th of May: June members meeting

June Members meeting –

The Jubilee is nearly upon us and we are celebrating in style next month.

We have a couple of reminders for you about the meeting…

– please remember to wear loose comfortable clothing so you can join in with the Morris dancing if you feel like taking to the floor!

– cold drinks will be available for if we work up a sweat with all the dancing.

– speaking of clothing – we are suggesting we all wear read white and blue.

– don’t forget to decorate and bring along your Crown, there will be a competition and a Jubilee themed prize for each of the three categories:

Regal

Recycled materials

Most original

Fundraising 2022-2023

At the last members meeting we discussed choosing a local charity to support this year, as we have done in the past. We will vote on a charity to support at the June meeting so please send in your suggestions via email or on Facebook before June 8th please. The charity must be local with the focus being women and girls.

We look forward to seeing you next month donned in a Crown and red white and blue!
