Dashing to and fro
Another busy day
Into Beeston we go
Throw your troubles away!
Hello everybody!
Here’s what to look forward to at our next meeting on 12th December at The Hive WI…
Main Activities:
It’s our Very Merry Christmas party.
We have a variety of festive quizzes, competitions, and craft activities for you to choose from.
Different tables will be set up across the hall so you can pick which activities you’d like to do and move around as you please.
Our creative activities include:
- Making orange pomanders;
- Shabby chic mini rag wreaths;
- Felt ornaments;
- Crafty gift tags;
- And zentangle drawings.
Here is a sneak preview…

Our games include:
- Music intro and scattegories quiz;
- Christmas bingo;
- Word puzzles;
- And a “chocolate quiz” (the quiz is about chocolate and the winner will win a chocolatey prize).
Instead of a raffle this month we have a “guess the number of baubles” guessing game.
There is also a Christmas tree decoration competition. You need to make the decoration ahead of time, so click here to find out how to enter.
To add to the merriment, all refreshments will be free – including mince pies and mulled wine!
The Hive WI Library:
Due to all the activities we have on, the Hive WI library will not be open this month.
This Month’s Top Tip:
Both the chocolate game and the guessing game will cost £1 to play. The winner of the chocolate game takes home a chocolatey prize, while the winner of the guessing game will win half the takings.
Our December meeting is also your last chance to bring something for our gift collection for Midlands Women’s Aid.
Midlands Women’s Aid is a fantastic organisation that provides services and safe housing to women and children who are experiencing domestic violence.
You can buy a gift for a child (0-18) or an adult woman.
Please make sure your gifts are unwrapped when you bring them in.
The collection is open to donations from non-Hive members too, so please spread the word and tell anyone who might be interested.
Other News:
At our last meeting members votes to allow “a plus one” to our craft meetings.
This means that any Hive member who wants to bring a female friend along can now do so.
Fantastic!
Members also voted against having a ready-made buffet for our birthday celebrations in January and instead voted in favour of having a potluck.
You asked for a list of food items to be made available at December meeting so that you knew what to bring ahead of time.
The list is ready and waiting to go!
Lastly, The Hive WI is now on Twitter.
If you are a Twitter-er, you can find and follow us here.
This Month’s Marvellous Volunteers:
Catherine T is our star baker for this month.
Kat M, Dagmar A, and Jules W have signed up to help in the kitchens.
Anne D and Jane B have put their names down for the setup/clean up.
Thank you so much to all our volunteers!
Time and Location:
We will meet at 7.30pm to 9.30pm on the 12th of December in the church hall on Foster Avenue, Beeston (opposite the library).
Parking:
There is parking just outside the church hall as well as across the road next to the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Refreshments:
All refreshments will be free at this meeting.
Please do not bring a cake if you have not already signed up to do so.
Remember to bring your mugs! (Cups will be provided if you forget).
Members & Guests:
Guests are very welcome but you must reserve your place before coming.
There is an optional visitors donation of £5 to our charity.
Your donation will be fully refunded if you sign up for membership that evening.
Membership Renewal for 2019:
Please be aware that if you want to join us again in 2019 you will need to rejoin the WI in January.
WI members across the country renew their memberships in January. This will also be the case for members of The Hive WI. To make it a smoother transition for Hivers, we will provide you will the relevant forms ahead of time in December.
As always, any issues, comments or questions please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help where we can.
See you at the next meeting!
