July Meeting

Hello!

It is the start of a heat wave and Beeston feels positively Mediterranean. Viva Las Beestonia!

Here is what to look forward to at our next meeting on the 11th of July at The Hive WI (ooh, that rhymed this time)…

Main Activities

We have three speakers this month.

Our first two speakers are reflexologists Emma Brown and Gill Woodhead.

Ms. Brown and Ms. Woodhead will be giving a talk on reflexology and the different pressure points on the feet.

They will also be showing us how to give a hand massage, so even if you don’t believe in the claims of reflexology there will be something enjoyable for everyone.

Our third speaker is Lynda Lally, a mental health support worker from the Middle Street Resource Centre (MSRC) in Beeston.

The MSRC supports people living with all kinds of mental health issues.

It is managed by professionals with support from volunteers. These volunteers often have mental health issues themselves.

The MindSet program is “the core of MSRC”. Mindset is “a peer led program that facilitates a number of Wellbeing groups. […] Founded in 2011, it originated as a music project and has developed to include a wide range of art, craft and outdoor activities.”

Ms. Lally will talk to us about the centre as well as the state of local mental health care provisions.

The MSRC is an extremely valuable asset to Beeston and we are very proud to promote and support it.

This Month’s Top Tip

Lynda Lally will be taking questions from The Hive WI members, so do come with some pre-prepared questions.

Also, in case of any possible demonstrations from our reflexologist, please make sure your feet are nice and neat if you would like to volunteer…

Swap Shops

Our book swap is expanding into a media swap.

If you can imagine an item fitting in at a modern library, then it will fit in here.

Media items include books, DVDs, audiobooks, and quality magazines.

This Month’s Marvellous Volunteers

Ann B, Trish R, and Natalie R are our bakers this month.

Natalie R has also volunteered to help in the kitchens.

Thank you to all of you!

If you are bringing a cake please arrive early so we can slice and serve it ready for 7.20. Remember to sign for your reimbursement by seeing a committee member in the kitchen, too.

Please do not bring a cake if you have not already signed up to do so.

Time and Location

We will meet at 7.30 to 9.30 on the 11th of July at the church hall on Foster Avenue, Beeston.

Refreshments

If you’d like refreshments before the start, please aim to arrive at about 7.20pm.

We will break for refreshments again later in the evening.

Remember to bring change and your mugs! (Cups will be provided if you forget).

Members and Guests

There is space for guests, but please reserve your place by emailing us before coming.

The price of entry for guests is £5 at the door.

Your visitors’ fee will be refunded if you join that evening.

As always, any issues, comments or questions please do get in touch and we’ll be happy to help where we can.
